On 30th September 2013, MVM Hungarian Electricity Ltd acquired the natural gas storage and natural gas wholesale companies of E.ON in Hungary, and thus established Hungarian Gas Trade Ltd, which continue to operate under the name MVM CEEnergy from 1 July 2021. In line with the national energy policy and the National Energy Strategy, this transaction has contributed to the strengthening of energy security and long-term economic growth in Hungary.
Conforming to its medium-term strategy, MVM Group is prepared to assume a significant role in the natural gas market. MVM Group is already present in all the key segments of the natural gas business, from infrastructure to sales.
Being the leading natural gas trader in Hungary, we are proud that by using alternative sources in our resource portfolio and by relying on our long-term gas supply contracts, we not only maintain the security of supply, but also respond to flexibility needs in the best way possible.
In addition to supplying natural gas to universal service providers, natural gas traders, large customers and power plants in Hungary, our Company places an increasing emphasis on developing regional sales activities. As a first step in our strategy to enter the regional markets, MFGK Austria GmbH has been established at the end of 2014, and then to improve our regional market position, we founded our Slovakian subsidiary, MFGK Slovakia s.r.o. at the end of 2015.
